Astrology Relationship Analysis

Synastry Primer Planets Houses Synastry Aspects

Synastry, or the practice of comparing the horoscope of two individuals, is an age-old craft which remains one of the most popular uses of astrology. Most books on synastry focus on the aspects formed between the Sun, the Moon, and the planets in one chart to the other. The synastry charts of any two individuals can be compared; business partners, parent/child, friends, enemies or whatever. Our purpose here, however, will be limited to the comparison of partners in a romantic or potentially romantic relationship. The synastry of love relationships.
Here are the astrology factors often considered in a synastry reading:

 Ascendants  Sun  Elements  Moon
Mars & Venus Aspects Houses

Ascendant and Descendant

The rising sign or ascendant in your horoscope tells much about your personality. This is the factor of the horoscope which speaks to how you will deal with the outside world. And your relationships are a most important part of that outside world. The ascendant degree on cusp of your first house begins the series of twelve houses and determines, to a large extent, the sign that will be on the cusp of each of the eleven remaining houses. The ideal match for you is the personality type denoted by the sign on the cusp of the descendant. The descendant in the horoscope is the sign opposite the ascendant. This sign rules the 7th house. The seventh house is the field of relationships and therefore it is the area of primary focus in a study of synastry. This house, opposite the first (matters of the self), relates to the other people with whom you enter close association. Indeed, the sign on the cusp of the 7th house is the personality type with whom you are most comfortable and best suited. This idea of opposites attracting is a very valid concept in astrology.  A person whose chart is the mirror image of yours, has the natural tendency of dovetailing the alliance by filling needs to form a solid unit.

Sun Signs

Astrologers are frequently asked "Which Sun sign is best for me?"  The short answer is, there is no short answer.  There are too many other variables to consider to charge off looking strictly for someone born while the Sun was in this sign or that. Sun sign compatibility ranks low on my list of factors to focus on when seriously studying synastry. The Sun is about ego and individuality. It is important because it discloses those inborn traits that are not likely to change very much in an individual. No matter what our personality is like, these inborn traits are going to be there and be very apparent. Nonetheless, the Sun sign, which is often the only focus in relationships, is just a bit part in a complete analysis.
This said, the oft given advise about Sun signs will be repeated here. The Sun signs fall into four groupings according the elements. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are the fire signs; Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are the earth signs; Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are the air signs; and, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are the water signs. There is tendency toward affinity within the elements.  Each sign gets on somewhat better with other signs in its element. Further, the air and fire groups share more compatibility with one another, as do the earth and water Suns.

Predominate Element Matches

The elements are indeed important when evaluating a potential relationship. But the Sun sign is only one indicator of which element will be strongest in an individual. Each of the planets is in one or another of the signs, and often the planets out weigh the Sun in importance.  By this I mean if the Sun is in a water sign, but most of the other planets are in fire signs, you may actually be more of a fire sign person.  If you haven't read about elements yet, you may wish to visit that page now to get up to speed. Note that information is provided at the Four Elements page for determining an individual's primary element. The Sun is an important indicator of the element that will be strongest in an individual, but it is not the absolute indicator.  You will find significant compatibility with persons having a predominance in the same element as yourself. If your partner is not of the same element as yourself, you must become familiar and tolerant of the differences that should be expected.

The Moon's important role

The Moon has a lot to do with relationships because this luminary denotes the state of emotions and conditioned responses. If the Moon in one chart is square or opposed to the Moon in the partner's chart, chances are there have been some conflicting ideas existing based on backgrounds and previous experiences. A Moon in conjunction with the Sun of the partner is a very good sign in that the Moon person has a wonderful emotional connection with the ego of partner. A favorable Sun/Moon aspect, that is a conjunction, sextile, or trine, can largely smooth out a relationship.  Indeed, the relationship between the Sun in the male's chart and the Moon in the female's chart may be even more important than the Sun to Sun relationship.

Mars and Venus

Mars and Venus play major roles in romance and in the mating process. Mars relates to your romantic desires; lust, if you will. It determines how sexually aggressive you are, and the raw passion, or lack of it, in your nature. Thus, Mars takes on the role of pursuit. This is why the symbol of Mars is also the symbol for the male. Venus, on the other hand, relates to the way in which you attract a mate. It represents the softer side of love; romance and emotional response to love. This role of attracting a mate links the sign of Venus with the female. The interaction of the two say a great deal about the chemistry between two people. They are often responsible for the sense of "love at first sight" and what would be called a very strong sexual attraction.  Regrettably, love at first sight and a very strong sexual attraction doesn't necessarily make a long and durable relationship. Other factors will be more instrumental in determining this. Nonetheless, a good fit between Mars and Venus adds a wonderful dimension to your relationship. The most auspicious fit here between the partners would be for Mars and Venus to be in the same sign or in the same element. The attachment is much stronger if the planets form a conjunction or trine aspect.

The Aspects

The aspects formed between the Sun, the Moon, and the planets in one chart and the Sun, the Moon, and the planets in the partner's (or potential partner's) chart show the detail of how smoothly this relationship will work. Note that virtually every comparison will present some harmonious and some not so harmonious aspects. Don't expect anything else.  Very seldom does the "perfect" match occur.  By the same token, if nothing but negative aspects appear, the relationship is apt to be a major struggle. Synastry Primer

by Michael McClain

Using Astrology for Relationship Analysis

Synastry is the process of comparing the astrology birth charts of two individuals to make an educated guess about how well they will get along in a romantic relationship. This is something of an advanced process, so it is necessary to know a little about basic astrology principles.

The zodiac is made up of 12 signs. Each of these signs represents 30 degrees of the full astrological circle. Every individual has all the ten planets in his or her horoscope; the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. So it has to follow that these bodies are situated in the astrology birth chart in one or another of the twelve signs as well as one of the twelve houses. Which sign and which house depends on the exact moment of birth and where the birth occurred. You may call yourself an Aries or a Taurus, but that only makes reference to which sign the Sun was in when you were born. The Moon and other planets were probably in other signs and houses scattered around the astrology chart circle.

The twelve signs, twelve houses and ten planets are the basic components of the astrology chart. In synastry, we compare the relative positions of the planets and the houses between your astrology chart and the chart of another. It's that simple; and that complicated.

Aspects between the Astrology Charts

The first thing usually considered is the aspects. In considering aspects, we look at one astrology chart, and measure the number of degrees from that person's planets to the planets in the prospective partner's astrology chart. By calculating this we can make basic predictions about where the strengths and weaknesses of the relationship are. We can evaluation the staying power of the relationship, and guess about what ways the people involved are going to get along and not get along. We can also surmise which of the partners will take the lead in various situations, and finally what problems will be faced in the relationship.

In my work I like to keep it fairly simple looking at only the strongest of the aspects. These include the conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition. When two planets are in conjunction, they are "within orb" or about 5 or 6 degrees of being in the same degree of the same sign. When sextile, the planets are within orb of 60 degrees; when square, 90 degrees; trine, 120 degrees; and opposition, 180 degrees. For the most part, sextiles and trines are considered easy aspects. Squares and oppositions are usually more difficult and suggests tension. Conjunctions can be either and it usually depends on which planets are involved.

In almost every synastry comparison, you will find at least some areas of ease and some areas of stress. Sometimes it will be difficult to draw a definite conclusion about whether or not the relationship will work. There will be areas of life where things do quite nicely, and there will be other areas which are much more challenging. When looking at your synastry result for the first time, it is important to remain objective. Do not become alarmed at the first negative issue encountered. Likewise, avoid reading through the report wearing "rose-colored glasses" seeing only the positive and ignoring the stressful.

The Ascendants

and Astrology Chart Houses

The next area of consideration is house placement. Observe where the planets of one person's astrology chart fall in the houses of the partner's astrology chart. The astrology chart will reveal the ascendant on the first house cusp, and the other 11 signs on the cusps of the next 11 houses.  The most important of these is the ascendant or the rising sign.  How the ascendant signs pair up in a relationship is very important because it suggest how the personalities will blend together.

Some astrology charts will have what are called intercepted houses. If you have an interception, there will be two signs, exactly opposite one another, that will not be on the cusp of any house. In this case, the signs either directly before or directly after the intercepted signs will rule two houses each. Such interceptions are common and have no particular bearing on relationships. Starting from the ascendant, generally the cusps will be ruled by the next (unless you do have an interception) sign of the zodiac on house cusp 2 though 12. If you are a Sun sign Taurus but your ascendant or 1st House cusp is in Aries, the Sun in your chart will fall in the 2nd house. Because the second house is about money and possessions, your life force (Sun) will be focused more on what you value in a material sense.

In a synastry comparison, most important considerations are aspects to, and comparative house positions of the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn, as well as the Ascendant and Descendant (first and seventh house cusps). Mars and Venus show attractions including sexual attractions. The Sun and the Moon show ego and emotional satisfaction, respectively. Saturn usually defines staying power or restrictions that block long term happiness. Mercury and Jupiter are less important, but play supporting roles and can add or detract from the quality of the relationship depending on the aspects.

The outer planets, Uranus through Pluto, are just not important when considering a relationship. The outer planets are more important when in close conjunction with, the Sun, the Moon, Mars or Venus.
When considering the synastry between two individual charts, one needs to understand as much as possible about the individuals involved. With this understanding, the context of the synastry will become more focused. If one of the individuals is seeking a reclusive, quiet, and reserved situation, and the other craves excitement, change, and adventure, the fact that there are many trines and sextiles in the combined chart won't help satisfy the basic needs of the individuals.

Conversely, you may see mostly hard angles and difficult house placements and conclude it is not a good relationship only to learn that it has indeed been a strong love affair for years. Examining the individual charts should help determine if the basic needs are being filled.

I realize that these brief notes for the novice astrologer will probably generate more questions than answers on this topic. At least it is a start.

Helpful and/or challenging aspects between partners' horoscopes

The mini readings listed below are delineations of aspects found by comparing the planetary placements in two charts. The ideas conveyed here are having reference exclusively to romantic relationships. If you are using these reading to prepare a complete reading, it may be helpful to amend the headings to indicate which Sun, Moon, planet is forming the aspect; i.e. "Amy's Moon is conjunct Blake's Uranus" and so on.

If you haven't learned about aspects in your natal chart, you may need to visit Planets in Aspect to learn some of the basics before diving in here.

You will note that only the aspects formed by the personal planets (The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) have been shown on these pages. These are the planets which are the  "players" in a romantic connection. The slower moving planets have little to do with one-on-one connections. Also note that aspects formed with Neptune and Pluto have been excluded since these aspects tend to appear in comparison with everyone born at about the same time you were and have little to do with focused relationships.

Sun conjunct Sun
You share a common Sun sign position. This conjunction of Suns has some pluses and some minuses. Certainly you understand each other, but you may both be trying to play the same starring role in the relationship, with competition rather than cooperation the result. Much depends on the nature of the sign involved. Signs that are cooperative by nature such as Libra and Aquarius do better than the more demanding Aries or Leo. Mutable signs, Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, may find the combination easy, but a sense of direction may be lacking in the match. There is also the danger that individuals with the same Sun sign will goad each other to an excessive display of the characteristics of this sign.

Sun conjunct Moon
When the Sun in one chart is conjunct with the Moon in the other, there is an extremely strong indication of a powerful romantic relationship and potential for marriage. The Moon person is emotionally in tune with the Sun person. This relationship works best if the Sun person is naturally in a role of leadership. In a marriage relationship, this aspect shows a strong sexual attraction. In this aspect, there is some tendency for the Sun to dominate the Moon to a degree. In any event, the conjunction makes two people fast friends with a deep mutual understanding and appreciation of one another. The spirit of cooperation is significant.

Sun conjunct Mercury
This conjunction suggests that the Sun, representing the will and power potential, has a great deal of influence on Mercury and upon the Mercury person's thinking. At the same time, the Mercury person has a good deal of influence on the Sun person as well, providing ideas and mental stimulation. This conjunction shows a great deal of compatibility in an intellectual sense. The ability to communicate in a very interesting and positive way is shown by this conjunction.

Sun conjunct Venus
This shows that you are in tune with each other socially, and that you will enjoy each other's company; you simply have fun together. You tend to share the same interests and cultural values. There is a strong emotional, intuitive link, and if other factors are favorable, this comparative aspect contributes greatly to romantic attractions, and may be an indicator of marriage.

Sun conjunct Mars
This is a dynamic comparative combination which can lead to much accomplishment or conflict. Conflicts are usually of the ego variety. If you are to get along harmoniously, you must develop a healthy respect for one another's independence and free will. You are apt to have a good spirit of competition, and sometimes this competition can get vicious. This conjunction often indicates sexual attractions, but of itself doesn't indicate love or tenderness.

Sun conjunct Jupiter
This aspect shows a spirit of mutual generosity in the relationship; he is especially generous to you. You tend to build up each other's confidence and optimism. You share many spiritual, philosophic, and/or cultural values. This relationship will always tend to be honest and aboveboard. In a marital relationships, this comparative combination indicates cooperation in handling domestic responsibilities, especially the raising of children.

Sun conjunct Saturn
This is a very difficult aspect between charts. There may be jealousy, or a dampening of self-confidence and enthusiasm. This comparative combination does not favor romantic relationships because of the heavy authoritarian implications. However, when aspects do form in spite of this aspect, the staying power of Saturn usually helps keep you together permanently.

Sun conjunct Uranus
This combination produces an interesting and unique relationship. Sudden, magnetic fascinations are common with individuals showing this aspect. There are many surprises, and events may be somewhat unpredictable. A strong sexual attraction is usually present. This can be a very exciting and adventurous relationship, but not one that is apt to be very stable unless there are other indicators of stability in the comparative analysis.

Sun conjunct Ascendant
You tend to reinforce each other's self-esteem and self-expression. Although this position can produce a sense of competition, it is more apt to denote a very significant spiritual link between two people. This is an extremely strong indicator of compatibility in a relation.

Sun sextile Sun
This aspect denotes friendship, communication, and cooperation in creative self-expression. You tend to encourage one another and are apt to share pleasurable activities. This is a very positive aspect for romantic relationships.

Sun sextile Moon
This is an aspect considered very good for cooperation and understanding. There is a compatibility influence assuming that the Sun and Moon are compatible sign, i.e. Fire and Air, or Earth and Water. This is a very good combination for family and domestic relationships.

Sun sextile Mercury
This comparative combination favors communication and intellectual friendships, and general cooperation. The ability to communicate enables you to resolve problem areas in the relationship.

Sun sextile Venus
You enjoy each other's company, and may share many common ideals and values. There is a good deal of emotional understanding reflected in this combination. Though this doesn't necessarily show marriage, it does help and favor marriage or romantic relationships.

Sun sextile Mars
This aspect denotes a rather energetic cooperation; you like to work together and get things done. It suggests a friendly competition or stimulation to action and achievement. It is an aspect helping romantic relations.

Sun sextile Jupiter
This aspect produces a cooperative attitude and generous friendship. You are likely to make excellent traveling companions. There is general philosophical agreement at many levels.

Sun sextile Saturn
A favorable Sun/Saturn aspect is desirable because it gives such a tone of stability to the relationship. This aspect produces serious friendships and cooperation in business and organizational matters. It denotes an attitude of restraint, discipline, and stability in the relationship. Though it does not of itself indicate marriage or romantic attraction, it does increase the durability of such relationships.

Sun sextile Uranus
This aspect generally denotes unusual friendships, or meeting under extraordinary circumstances. There is likely to be an inexplicable and immediate attraction. Though associated with romantic attractions, this aspect doesn't of itself indicate an enduring relationship.

Sun sextile Ascendant
This aspect suggests that you are able to direct your wills effectively in working together. It's effective in working toward mutual goals and enhancing one another's self-image. This is an indicator of romantic and sexual attraction, and it's also favorable for harmony in a marriage relationship.

.
Sun square Sun
A square between the natal Sun in your respective charts denotes a continuing ego conflict. You may tend to interfere in one another's creative self-expression. Resistance and resentment is apt to build up in the relationship if special efforts to be tolerant are not exercised. In marriage, raising children can be a problem with many differing views as to methods. Serious differences in attitudes in many areas.

Sun square Moon
This is a very difficult comparative combination for family, marital, and romantic relationships. Just as the best relationships are those showing the Sun and Moon in harmonious aspect, the adversity of the square can denote serious challenges. You will find it very hard and unnatural to adapt to each other's temperament, as well as the general pace and style of living. Major disagreements about the handling of finances, business affairs, and the raising of children often arise. Frequently, these are the results of differences in family background or deep-seated emotional habit patterns.

Sun square Mercury
This aspect causes communication difficulties in the relationship. When this aspect is active, you tend to boss him around too much. This aspect also suggests some major differences in the intellectual outlook.

Sun square Venus
This placement denotes difficulties in romantic interaction between a couple. Often producing romantic and sexual attractions, this aspect does not favor marriage or serious romantic relationships unless these difficult issues can be resolved. Real emotional sensitivity and caring may be lacking, and the association is more likely to be based on pleasure seeking and sensuality. There can be disagreements in social and cultural issues, and in the handling of financial affairs.

Sun square Mars
This is one of the most difficult comparative combinations because it produces violent conflicts and disagreements, although it also tends to indicate an attraction as well. The level on which these conflicts are expressed will vary depending on other factors in the chart, but the extreme range can include everything from a competition and some friction in the relationship, to actual physical abuse. This is not a good combination for any sort of relationship as you are likely to react to each other impulsively rather than thoughtfully, and when it is found in marital relationships, there must be a conscious effort not to argue and fight.

Sun square Jupiter
With this combination natural tendencies toward excesses, expressed by either individual, are likely to be extended and inflated. Extravagance, overconfidence, and overextending will be a bi-product of the relationship. You tend to encourage each other's tendencies toward self-indulgence and impracticality. This is not a good relationship for raising a family because there is a tendency to ignore responsibility and too much is taken for granted. In romantic relationships difficulties arise over differences in philosophic, religious, or moral viewpoints.

Sun square Saturn
This is a very difficult aspect because it shows a repressive tone to the relationship. Ego conflicts and a clash of wills are not unusual with this combination. In a close personal relationship or marriage, this aspect shows difficulties, burdens, and discouraging effects. You may look at your responsibilities to one another as burdens and find it difficult to be fun loving and spontaneous in each other's presence. The Sun person may think of the Saturn partner as something of a "wet blanket."

Sun square Uranus
This combination may produce extremely strong attractions of very short and unstable duration. There is an attitude of rebellion likely in this relationship. You may tend to find him very unreliable and undependable in certain ways. Cooperation in any sort of relationship is difficult to maintain.

Sun Square Ascendant
This aspect denotes a clash of wills and there is a sense of conflict involved regarding the effect of the relationship on individual independence. On the positive side, if the overall comparison is good and both of you are sufficiently mature, this aspect can spell dynamic cooperation in your mutual activities.

Sun trine Sun
This is an excellent comparative combination for mutual compatibility. You have many similar values and you're likely to be natural friends. This is a helpful aspect for romantic relationships and marriage. There is enough similarity in self-expression to produce harmony, but not so much that competition is likely to be a problem. The tone of relationship will be determined a great deal by the element (Earth, Fire, Air, or Water) in which to Sun is found.

Sun trine Moon
This is one of the finest comparative combinations for a successful romantic relationship or marriage. This is especially true when it is the man's Sun and woman's Moon, but the aspect is very positive and harmonious in either direction. This trine produces a receptivity to the energy and creative self-expression of the Sun. The Sun person tends to initiate action and take the leadership role in the relationship (explaining why, in a traditional sense, it is preferable to have a "his" Sun and "her" Moon). The interaction between partners has a pleasant flow. The nature of the relationship tends to take on the flavor of the element (earth, fire, air or water) within which these bodies reside.

Sun trine Mercury
This is such a good aspect because few problems are insurmountable if there is good communication. This comparative combination is very helpful in any relationship because it denotes excellent communication between the two of you. You stimulate each other intellectually and share many cultural or educational interests. You are able to discuss problems and work them out.

Sun trine Venus
This is an excellent comparative combination for romantic and sexual attraction and marriage. You enjoy each other's company and have fun together. There is good emotional rapport and mutual sensitivity and generosity. You encourage each other socially and culturally.

Sun trine Mars
This is a very active comparative combination showing mutual support and efforts toward mutual self-improvement and development. You are both ambitious and interested in improving your lives. There may be a strong sense of friendly competition in the relationship. The combination adds sexual attraction in a romantic relationship.

Sun trine Jupiter
This aspect endows the relationship with a very harmonious and mutually helpful color. Jupiter is very generous, benevolent, and optimistic toward the Sun, while the Sun provides much vitality, and encourages the Jupiter individual. In a romantic situation, this aspect produces cultural and spiritual values that give durability and lasting quality. You are apt to make excellent traveling companions.

Sun trine Saturn
A favorable Sun/Saturn aspect is desirable because it gives such a tone of stability to the relationship. This comparative combination balances, disciplines and organizes the relationship. Taken alone it does not indicate a romantic relationship, but in such a relationship or in a marriage, this aspect increases the stability and the durability. There is a mutual appreciation of responsibility and a willingness to work out difficulties.

Sun trine Uranus
This aspect makes for a very exciting friendship or romance. You have a strong magnetic attraction for each other. This combination often shows mutual interests in unusual, esoteric, scientific or common organizational activities. Although the aspects of Uranus in romantic terms are neutral, the magnetic appeal of the placement can produce a sexual attraction. There is a definite friendship attachment usually based on a mutual respect for one another's need for freedom and independence.

Sun trine Ascendant
This aspect suggests that you are able to direct your wills effectively in working together. This aspect is effective in working toward mutual goals and enhancing one another's self-image. This is an indicator of romantic and sexual attraction, and it's also favorable for harmony in a marriage relationship.

.
Sun opposed Sun
This comparative combination is not unusual in marriages. Opposites do attract and this opposition is basically a relationship aspect. You balance each other and complement each other's deficiencies. There is a strong attraction and you are important to each other. However, there can also be a clash of wills and egos, and you must respect the other's personal autonomy if you are to get along. Any attempt for either to be the boss will meet with opposition. Nonetheless, this is a good aspect for sexual and romantic connection.

Sun opposed Moon
This is a comparative aspect found in many marital relationships. In this relationship, the Sun person is the more dynamic, and the Moon person is the more receptive influence. Thus, there is something of a unbalance of power here. The Sun person tends to dominate. This aspect perhaps worked better at an earlier time in traditional male dominate marriages, when the male was the solar partner.

Sun opposed Mercury
This comparative combination promises a good deal of communication between the two of you, but there is likely to be widely varying viewpoints and opinions. You are probably able to arrive at a balanced judgment.

Sun opposed Venus
This aspect is frequently found in romantic attractions and marriages. It is usually indicative of a relatively harmonious relationship based on a deep friendship and a fondness for each other's company. There can be mutual enjoyment of and participation in social activities, parties, concerts, or the theater. The negative side of the opposition can produce problems relating to the Sun person's ego and power drive and/or the Venus person's sensitivities or self-indulgence.

Sun opposed Mars
Contacts between the Sun and Mars are frequently found in marriages because it is one of strong physical attraction and the blend is productive of much "heat." The desire nature is definitely stimulated. This comparative combination produces a conflict of will and ego, which can result in power struggles and fights for supremacy in the relationship. This is not a good romantic indicator because ego and willfulness will be continuously at odds. The key to successfully working with this aspect is psychological maturity. Because it is impossible to eliminate the competition for dominance imposed here, it is necessary for both to respect the other's free will.

Sun opposed Jupiter
Although you may get along well and are very generous with each other, you tend to encourage each other into excesses or overindulging in one way or another. You may have widely differing view on religion and philosophy.

Sun opposed Saturn
This is a very difficult aspect as it tends to generate mutual jealousy and clashes of personal authority. The Saturn individual is apt to squelch the Sun individual's enthusiasm and self-expression. To live with this mutual aspect, you must both respect each other's autonomy and neither should expect to have the upper hand. The handling of serious mutual responsibilities will be a major issue. This is not considered a favorable aspect for romantic relations.

Sun opposed Uranus
This comparative combination often produces a serious clash of wills. Uranus wants freedom and independence and the Sun tends to be authoritarian. If you want to get along, there must be a strict appreciation of space and an unconditional acceptance of independent ways.

.
Moon conjunct Moon
This placement denotes an emotional empathy in your relationship. You tend to go through moods simultaneously. Your mutual understanding is good, but you may tend to bring out emotional excesses in one another. Attitudes and values in home and domestic affairs are similar.

Moon conjunct Mercury
This aspect provides a good avenue for communication, although in some cases people that share this aspect talk so incessantly about trivial and inconsequential matters to the point of boring or annoying each other. Normally the ability to communicate is a positive circumstance, but of itself, this position doesn't indicate sexual or romantic attraction.

Moon conjunct Venus
This is a very strong sexual and emotional link and one of the best comparative aspects for romance. There is an exchange of domestic and emotional stability, with love and emotional understanding. There is a sensitive harmony with each other's moods and subconscious emotional responses. This aspect shows the ability to share in very feeling ways. This is an excellent aspect for marriage, family relationships, and for any persons who are working together in a close relationship. It is both harmonious and understanding.

Moon conjunct Mars
This is a difficult comparative aspect because the aggressiveness of Mars upsets and irritates the Moon, the Moon person's moodiness and sensitivity makes the Mars person impatient. In two really strong charts this aspect can produce constructive action in business, family and domestic affairs. It may produce a good deal of sexual attraction, but with no guarantee of compatibility. Mars is too apt to try to change the partner. This connection works best in circumstances when the Mars person is the Male and the Moon person is the female. However, in all cases this is a difficult combination for marriage, family relationships, or for people who live together, since it is likely to produce domestic disagreements.

Moon conjunct Jupiter
This aspect puts a good deal of harmony in your relationship. You share feelings of trust and mutual confidence. You tend to have compatible religious, social and ethical values, and you encourage each other. This placement of itself doesn't indicate romance, but it will increase the quality of a romantic relationship and it also will increase the durability and stability of a marital relationship.

Moon conjunct Saturn
This is a very difficult comparative combination for most relationships. Saturn sometimes is emotionally depressing and periodically has a wet-blanket effect on the Moon. In a serious relationship together, the Moon person tends to be too moody, and the Saturn person is insensitive. In a marital or romantic relationship, this combination is likely to produce coldness and estrangement. A relationship may be based on the need for security rather than any genuine sympathetic understanding between the two of you.

Moon conjunct Uranus
This aspect produces a relationship that is unusual and exciting, but not always stable. Much depends on the rest of the comparison. Unless other aspects, such as good Saturn aspects, balance this comparative conjunction, the relationship is likely to be unstable, and mutual feelings are subject to sudden and unpredictable changes. In romantic relationships, you may be inclined to live together without being married, as in new age communal living arrangements. In this pairing, the Uranus person provides the excitement and stimulation, and the Moon person offers a base of operation or home.

.
Moon sextile Moon
This aspect aids communication and emotional empathy. In family and domestic relationships, this combination show compatibility derived from habit patterns established in the childhood family.

Moon sextile Mercury
This aspect produces good emotional empathy and communication. This is a favorable aspect for all sorts of domestic relationships because there is the ability to communicate feelings and emotions.

Moon sextile Venus
This is an aspect for romantic attraction and for marriage because it shows a sense of sympathy for each other. There is mutual consideration and you are likely to share social, musical, artistic and other activities and appreciations together. Common friends are usually found in relationships featuring this aspect. Emotional understanding may border on the intuitive. The aspect bestows a good deal of harmony in an emotional sense.

Moon sextile Mars
This is a good aspect for dynamic cooperation in action. Mars has a "get moving" impact on the Moon, while the Moon helps calm Mars down. This aspect may contribute to sexual attraction in romantic relationships.

Moon sextile Jupiter
